本片講述的是，一個(gè)名叫理查的年輕劇作家在一次劇作演出大獲成功后的答謝宴會(huì)上，意外遇上了一位他此前從未見(jiàn)過(guò)的、白發(fā)蒼蒼的老婦人，她強(qiáng)行塞給他一只精美絕倫的古董金表，然后對(duì)他說(shuō)了一句讓他當(dāng)時(shí)極為莫名其妙的話：“回到我身邊來(lái)！”
八年后，理查終于發(fā)現(xiàn)，原來(lái)他和那個(gè)已于八年前的當(dāng)晚過(guò)世的老婦人，實(shí)實(shí)在在地有著千絲萬(wàn)縷的聯(lián)系，于是他最終決定，放棄現(xiàn)代文明的高科技生活，心甘情愿地選擇了時(shí)光倒流七十年，與那七十年前的老婦人相遇……
